Why Jaisalmer
Golden sandstone, a living fort and the Thar desert
Jaisalmer is built almost entirely from local yellow sandstone, which glows gold at sunset. People still live and work inside its fort, and the sand dunes are about an hour's drive away. Where you stay shapes your trip, so we help you pick the right area.

Common questions
Are you a hotel?
No. Mewar Hotels is an independent booking assistance service. We do not own or operate any hotel or camp. We help you find and book rooms with hotels, havelis and desert camps in Jaisalmer.
Do you charge a fee?
Any service fee is shown to you in writing, together with the room rate, before you confirm. You only pay once you have agreed to the final amount.
Should I stay in the city or at a desert camp?
Many travellers do both: a night or two in the city to see the fort and havelis, then one night at a camp near the Sam or Khuri dunes. Tell us your plans and we'll suggest what fits.
When is the best time to visit Jaisalmer?
October to March is the most popular season, with pleasant days and cool nights. Summer (April to June) is very hot, and rates are usually lower. Rates and availability change a lot around holidays and festivals, so ask early.
Can I book directly with the hotel instead?
